Lord Edward is the husband of Lady Tantamount. He is a
scientist that is currently working on stem cells with newts. So far his major scene has been the party at
his house. His life philosophy seems to be that people should have a balanced
life. He does not have greed or ambitions to gain power. This can be shown by
his statements to Webley, a power hungry politician. He says “Progress! You politicians
always talking about it. As though it wer going to last. Indefinitely. […] you
ought to take a few lessons in my subject. […] what do you propose to do about phosphorus”
(Huxley 56). Edward seems to believe in progress, but from a realistic
standpoint. He wants to progress to better the world, not himself.

Marele lup
Fenrir was born in Alfheim. He was conceived as a way
to unify the Vanir and Aesir wood elf tribes. The two tribes had been at odds
with each other as long as anyone can remember. His mother was the daughter of
the Vanir’s shaman and his father was the Aesir’s greatest hunter. Yet while
their union brought peace, old grudges are hard to get rid of. From the moment
Fenrir was born he was hated. He had few friends his age and had to always have
a bodyguard with him. Yet things only became worse as he grew up. Fenrir
quickly showed aptitude in anything presented to him. He was able to read,
write, and speak both Elven and Common by age 3 and knew how to use a sword and
bow by age 8. Yet he was most hated for his affinity for the nature. Due to his
mixed bloodlines he was able to tap into the powers of nature and due things
like predict the weather and know where every animal in the forest around him
was. Due to his power both tribes wanted Fenrir as their own. Fenrir’s parents
knew Fenrir needed to stay neutral and thus made sure he was raised to be good,
kind, but also disciplined. He was given the best education learning from the best
members of both tribes, but at the end of the day always had to not get
attached too much to either tribe. Luckily for Fenrir, he was able to befriend
the fey of Alfheim. They rarely showed themselves to other races, but they took
a special likening to Fenrir. They taught him in secret their native tongue
Sylvan, as well and the sacred language Druidic. They also secretly taught him
the ways of a druid. Of all the fey Fenrir’s favorite was the orphan sprite Moira.
She was like a younger sister to Fenrir. Using illusion magic Fenrir would occasionally
bring Moira into his village so she could experience life outside of the
forest.
When Fenrir was 15 he had to go through the trial of
manhood. It was a test a boy had to pass to become a man that both tribes had. The
test comprised of going out with all the other 15 year old boys on the day of
the winter solstice and coming back with a trophy of the greatest animal they killed. The greater the trophy the greater the
man. While thinking of what to hunt Fenrir decided he would take a long walk
away from the rest of the boys. Little did Fenrir know, Freyr of the Vanir and Höðr of the Aesir, had decided
to ambush Fenrir. They took all of his supplies, beat him up till he was at
death’s door, and left him to die in part of the wilderness far away from any civilization.
Fenrir was furious.
He used his druid magic to heal himself and then set off to track his
attackers. Using magic and skill Fenrir tracked them to the den of a dire wolf.
As Fenrir approached he saw that they had brutally and unapologetically killed 5
dire wolfs from den. Even more enraged Fenrir jumped down from his tree perch
and using his makeshift weapons and druidic magic Fenrir killed all of the boys
that attacked him. Then Fenrir felt the faint presence of an animal coming from
the den. Fenrir rushed inside and found a baby dire wolf hidden behind a group
of stalagmites. Fenrir named it Dirus and fed it some of the remains of the dead
outside. Fenrir took back the heads of his victims to his village. Horrified by
what he had done the two tribes tried to banish Fenrir, but Fenrir told the
tribe how Freyr and Aesir had attacked him and then broke the hunter’s code with
the way they killed the dire wolfs. After talking it over the elders decided
that Fenrir was to go to the druids on Mount Heimdallr in the mountains of Alfhiem.
They would decide his fate. After leaving his home Fenrir traveled to the home
of the fey to say goodbye to Moira. She told him that she was not going to let
him go alone. So of Fenrir, Dirus, and Moira went to see the druid circle of
Heimdallr.
The leader of
the druids Odin after hearing Fenrir’s case decided that he would train with
the circle and be given the title of Reaper. That title signified that he had
been chosen by nature to have the power to deal death. After years of training
Fenrir set out on his journey with his wife Moira, his pen Dirus, and a hallowed
totem from Odin. The totem had been formed from the essence of life. It was the
totem of the reaper the totem of the great wolf, the totem of FENRIR!

Reich Springen
Mersault becomes a person at the
end of chapter 3 in part 2 if to become a person, you must give your existence
essence and essence comes after existence. He finally leaves behind his life of content (aesthetic)
and enters the realm of thought. This is caused by how poorly Mersault’s trial goes.
Mersault realizes his guilt during the trial and due to it is unable to only
stay in the aesthetic realm. Mersault goes back to prison knowing that his life
will never be the same and that the content he once had is gone. He is going to
have to think and follow a set morals to survive in the realm of thought. This
realm gives an essence to things and is the reason that through being forced
into this realm Mersault becomes a person.

Kärlek Med Öppna Armar
Smile O voluptuous cool-breath'd earth!
Earth of the slumbering and liquid trees!
Earth of departed sunset — earth of the mountains misty-topt!
Earth of the vitreous pour of the full moon just tinged with blue!
Earth of shine and dark mottling the tide of the river!
Earth of the limpid gray of clouds brighter and clearer for my sake!
Far-swooping elbow'd earth — rich apple-blossom'd earth!
Smile, for your lover comes.
Prodigal, you have given me love — therefore I to you give love!
O unspeakable passionate love.
O unspeakable passionate love.
Through the
twenty first part of the poem Song Of
Myself, Walt Whitman conveys that all humans should respect the earth as we
will all eventually become part of it. Whitman believes that nature should be
appreciated and embraced as someone dies. The word Earth is used to refer to
nature in the poem.
Whitman writes
about nature at night as death. Whitman sets up death/night as his lover to
promote the idea that nature gives us life and in death we repay it.
This poem also
shows how Whitman would likely agree with modern day environmentalists. For example,
the poem indicates that the passionate love Whitman promotes is being buried in
the ground without a casket. This allows someone to decompose and become one with
nature. This decomposition makes it less wasteful than a casket burial. Whitman’s
praise of nature also sounds a lot like the way environmentalists would
describe nature. Due to this I believe that Whitman would also be opposed to
humanities ravaging of earth’s land and resources for personal gain. He seems
to believe that humanity and nature should coexist in harmony. Whitman clearly believes
that the relationship between man and nature should be that of lovers not
fighters.

Styrenheten
I got a head injury that my mind
block the memory of the actual event of. I remember the aftermath of going to
the hospital and getting a cat scan, but the fall that caused me to hit the
back of my head and about the 5 minutes of my life that followed were never
stored. It was freaky to me because I “woke up” as I was conscious and walking.
I had no idea what had happened, but the people around me said I was conscious
and talking moments before. I felt as if that past me was another person that
was using my body without my control. That experience got me even more into how
the brain works, but more importantly it reinforced my feelings of not being in
control of my life. I feel that I my body is not fully controlled by me and I
fear what the true controller may reveal about my identity. Am I merely a
product of this body’s memories and brain or am I in control of my brain and by
extension my body?

Delning
I found the idea of the segregation of races on Mars
bringing peace interesting. It is as if the book is saying that the mixing of
different cultures on earth contributes to our problems. On Mars the races are separate
and only interact when necessary. I agree that when cultures are separated there
is less fighting. Yet societies advance through the merging of cultures. For example
the mix of cultures in Europe lead to it having some of most powerful countries
in the 1500s to 1700s. Cultures may clash, but in the end the rebuilding that
happens afterwards helps humanity evolve.

En Endelig Sannhet
Humans are unable to truly prove
anything because we can only see it from one perspective. Even if I hear
someone else speak, I still have to perceive what she is saying. Color blindness is an example of
a different perspective. If we assume that color
blindness is real than how can I prove to a person that the way he sees the
world is a lie. Without technology I would have no way to show him color or my
perspective. He would likely argue that his perspective is correct and that I am
the one that is not seeing the world correctly.
